Early Saturday morning, the Oradell Fire Department was dispatched as part of the mutual aid response to a working fire at 84 Rutgers Place in River Edge.
Engine 24, Tower 21, Chief 20, and Chief 201 responded alongside other mutual aid units. Crews encountered heavy black smoke from the apartment on arrival. A fast, aggressive interior attack kept the fire contained to the kitchen area.
Tower 21 assisted with primary and secondary searches and overhaul operations, while Engine 24 provided additional manpower as the fire was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm for staffing.
